Saul x Andreas: Medieval + ius prima noctis (TW: Non-con)

From: (Anonymous)
Droit du seigneur ('right of the lord'), also known as ius primae noctis ('right of the first night'), was a supposed legal right in medieval Europe, allowing feudal lords to have sexual relations with subordinate women, in particular, on the wedding nights of the women.

King Andreas, riding through the small village of Alfea, comes across Farah and Saul's wedding and decides to invoke his right.

Just to be clear, it's Saul being the one Andreas wants to fuck right?

Andreas attempted to close his eyes and rest his head a while, but the jostling of the carriage reverberated in his head like the insignificant complaints and requests of the villagers of Blackbridge.

He cared less for their suffering than he did for the excuses given by the laundry for the destruction of his favoured shirt. It was his kingly duty to hear the commoners out, make them think he was reasonable and beneficent, but that wasn’t why he was here. It was the Holy Day of Sabbath, and across the countryside peasants were getting married. He had wasted an entire day in Blackbridge before an advisor had whispered in his ear of a wedding happening in the next village over. Alfea, a quaint yet pretty name.

The driver banged a foot overhead; a signal. Andreas pulled back the curtain of the carriage and saw the wide open doors of the village hall, beckoning to him.

The anticipation of not knowing what he would discover inside stirred him as they approached and it maintained a hold over him as he stepped out of the carriage. He enjoyed this part.

“Prepare the carriage,” he threw over his shoulder, unable to stop himself from biting his own lip as he entered the hall.

They stood together in the middle of the hall like an offering just for him, placed there for his viewing pleasure. The newly wedded couple, dancing among a crowd of well wishers. He knew exactly who he wanted.

The woman was pretty enough, but her new groom had hair as dark as his favourite gelding and skin as fair as soft moonlight. He was smiling at his bride with the innocence of true love. Andreas was captivated.

He didn’t notice the fiddler stop playing his tune as he approached the two, or the crowd part for him like dirt for a plow. The couple hadn’t noticed him, not until he uttered the words he had come to say. They fell from his lips with an unholy desperation on such a holy day.

“Right of the Lord.”

The groom snapped his head up, released his bride and bowed almost immediately after.

“Your Majesty.”

“Right of the Lord,” he repeated, breathless.

Andreas could see his reputation had preceded him, for the groom remained bowed but not shocked at the invocation.

“Your Majesty,” he said softly, not looking up. “I beg you take the words back.”

“Your name.”

“Saul, your Majesty.”

“Look at me, Saul.”

When he did his blue eyes were wide with fear, his pretty pink mouth parted in apprehension. Andreas stepped closer and leaned towards his ear, felt the man’s breaths of panic brush the side of his neck.

“You are a beauty fit for a king,” Andreas whispered for his conquest’s ears only. “I would take back the words no sooner would I take back my birthright. I would utter them again and again if it meant I could have more than this night to you.”

I don't think I will continue from where you left off, although I am absolutely intrigued and delighted by what you've written here and would love to see you carry it on! I'll probably write a different version around this premise because it's got my mind turning! I'm glad I'm not the only one inspired by the prompt!

OP here, I love this start! Particularly all the negative connotations you give to Andreas' descriptors like "dirt for a plow" and comparing Saul to a gelding. Thank you!

OP here! Oooooh that paragraph at the end about "the proud who accept their fate with principled, silent rage" THAT IS THE SHIT!!! I loooove it, this is Saul to a T, thanks so much for adding more on to this! No pressure to continue but I would love to read more.

I’m still thinking about the dynamics, so that’s an encouraging sign I’ll write more. I thought this originally was going to go down the non-con route but maybe not. It’s not non-con if Saul accepts what’s going to happen right? Maybe just some very dubious consent.

Glad you like it!

(OP here) Yeah to me the line is very blurred between dubious and non-con, especially if there is "motivation" for the victim (for lack of a better word). But non-con isn't a squick for me as long as it's done well, I'm a fucked up whump lover, it is what it is and this is kink meme for a reason :D

Here is my fill, I kinda took it in a different direction and I'm not sure anyone but me will like it. I'm glad someone else filled this prompt so that I don't feel guilt for not giving you what you asked for.
